So yesterday I was just having a lot of trouble doing stuff I knew I had to do. I understand sometimes I can fall into inaction like most people. It feels like I have to be perfect and I need the perfect plan, and then we get stuck in the planning stage. I know its important to have a plan to know where we we’re going, sometimes we have to let go.
Here’s how I battled my inaction station yesterday in 5 simple steps
- I took the top three things that I knew I had to do NOW!- Just by looking at some key action steps I gave myself a start.
- Choose one thing-I grabbed each step and I visualized it one by one; what it would be like when it was done.
- I started talking to myself- Wilson!!! You better get your butt off that chair and get to work dude unless you just want to end up a bum.
- Think Now! Now! Now!- Who cares whats going to happen tomorrow or what happened yesterday.” If you have one foot on yesterday and one foot on tomorrow all you are doing is pissing on TODAY”
- Don’t you think about NOT completing the work- Once I was done I rewarded myself with a glass of wine.
Listen I don’t want you to beat yourself up if you are just having one of those days, you know which days I am talking about. But if you are visiting your inaction vacation too often and not doing what needs to be done, you need to take some action!
Listen if you have this issue a lot there has to be something that’s causing it. Find it and destroy that barrier. Don’t use your brain so much, what I mean is stop thinking so much. I like to think but I hate to over think so much. Whatever you do know won’t be perfect, okay, no problem just go back and fix it. Lastly just block your Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, anything that might keep you distracted.
