Facebook Timeline Updates

f8-conference-2011Facebook has done it again: they’ve come out with a new update. Surprise? Not really; I’m sure you saw it coming as well. I wonder if Google + is going to get into the updates war too. God I really hope not.

Some of you probably already heard the big announcement at the F8 Conference. Pretty big I’d say; they had Andy Samberg do an intro, which wasn’t as funny as he can be, but it was a good ice-breaker.

You can watch the video here:

I was going to make a video on some of the new changes, but my friend Adrienne Smith got ahead of me and made a pretty good video that I think you should see here. I gotta say that I’m impressed with the originality of the new Facebook timeline. Although we have a ton of people hating on it, I have to disagree.

If you want to change your Facebook profile look you can do so now, or you can wait until September 29th for it to automatically change. My girlfriend already went and changed hers, here is a preview of what it looks like:

facebook-timlineYou can’t really see that much on this screen shot, but you can still see a big difference. It has three main parts:

  • all your stories
  • all your apps
  • a new way to express who you are

And it goes all the way back to when you were born.

  • Wilson, aloha. Well I have to be honest and tell you that I screamed–silently–as well as said a few unladylike words when I saw the changes. In fact, I quickly moved off fb and thought “Man, I hope Adrienne makes a video taking me by the hand and telling me what to do.” Thank heavens she did because it was a huge help to me in demystifying the changes.

Your posts makes me think I’d better spend some more time looking at it and tweaking it because it does seem like it has possibilities. Wilson, I guess what it is is that once we have something figured out, we are not so fond of changes even if they are for the better.

Your girlfriend looks lovely, Wilson; you are a lucky man.

Best wishes to you both for a wonderful weekend. Until next time, aloha. Janet

    • Thank You! I hope you enjoy your weekend too. Yes, I’m going to be putting some time into Facebook next month as well and hopefully write some useful information for you to apply.

Oh and Adrienne did do an awesome job with that video. I need to get some tips on her to make my videos.

Once again, Janet thanks for the engagements and starting the conversation.

  • I have to say I really really like the new timeline layout. It lets you focus on what you want to focus on, it’s pretty streamlined, and it gives you an opportunity to stick out. I sorta kinda love it. =) Great post, I didn’t even see the F8 Keynote yet..
