Everyone is Talking About It Online

Do you know what it is? What is it that everyone and their moms keep talking about, but don’t know scrap about?

I’m about to tell you in a second, so hold on to your horses.

Internet marketing, How to make money online, Affiliate marketing, Blogging…

You’ve probably heard something about it; it’s hard NOT to find someone telling you how to do it. But if you’re serious, WHO do you listen to? And more importantly how do you do it (earn money online)? These are some of the questions I asked myself when I got into this business. There were so many people out there doing/talking about the same, that I was confused and I thought it was a pile of crap. But it wasn’t until I got that first email saying I made a commission. And keep getting more and more emails, that looked like this. It was an accomplishment! I am not trying to brag to you guys, it’s just a good feeling when you make that first dime online.

You Don’t Believe It Until you See It

I knew it was possible; I believed if there were so many people talking about it, then there had to be a small percentage of them really doing it. If you believe that you can do something you will do it. If you don’t believe it, then you won’t. I don’t want to come at you all philosophical or anything, but in this game it is important to have a little hope that you’re going to actually do it. So, start by believing you will make the amount that you set for yourself.

Find the Mentor That’s Doing What You Want to Do

If there’s something you want to do, there’s probably someone out there already doing it. The way I found out about all of this was through Tim Ferriss. From there I started connecting with people online and going to different forums and reading a whole bunch of other people’s blogs. Look for forums that relate to your “stuff;” email bloggers that you like and ask them anything you need help with. Not everyone will be helpful but some people will be.

Learn, then Go to Work

It took me a year to get to where I am and I’m still not exactly doing it big like some marketers. But I know that they didn’t do it fast either, so I keep working and I keep learning. It’s really easy LEARNING what you need to do. It’s the DOING part that people are scared of/lazy about.

Don’t be that guy. If you want to do something big, it’s not going to be easy (there I go again, being all philosophical on you) but what the heck, it’s the truth and some won’t like it and some will. Now let me ask you, who are you going to be?

Who’s helped you succeed or get big results with your online business? Do they have any online products you’ve bought from them? What about free stuff you can recommend for newbies that don’t have money to spend?

Writing How Much You Want to Make Online and Having a Plan of Attack

If you want to make it online you’re going to need a plan, or you’re going to fail.

It took me some time to realize this, but I finally got hit in the head too many times one day…and I GOT IT! I now do exactly that. I write what I want, and make a plan of attack, broken down by month, week, and day; SHIT sometimes by hours. You see, I’m a big believer in The Secret and Think and Grow Rich philosophy, you know the whole ‘ask, believe, and receive,’ and I’ve learned to apply it to this whole ‘make money online’ thing. So in this post I am going to help you out, getting the figures together, and putting a plan into action.

How much money do I need? And how much do I really want?

Let’s be real okay, most of us want to be making a million bucks a day, but do we really need it? No… of course not, so why set your goals like that. First of all, they are so unrealistic; and second, they’re basically pointless, because think about it. Do you really need all that money to get everything that you dream about? Probably not!

Set a Goal

Here’s what I did and maybe you can try it too…

I first set a goal to make $1 a day from my projects online, then I increased that number to $10 once I reached the first goal and so on and so on, I kept increasing that goal by 10. I’m now on the journey to make $100 a day. I’ll be honest; it’s not easy to reach that goal but it’s reachable.

What I’ve decided to do is break that into small chunks, because I felt this was a better and faster way to reach that goal. Basically I’ve made this into a little game; it’s really like counting numbers. You see when we count numbers we don’t go; one.one thousand.one million. We do it in a certain order right? For example; one, two, three and so on…

What Should My Goal Be?

If you’re in some job that you [probably] don’t enjoy doing anymore, write down how much you make there, and make that amount your goal. This way you can quit that place once you reach your goal. After you’ve reached the amount you need, you can start making goals towards other things that you want. The whole point is to reach a point where you’re free to do whatever it is that you love doing.

Some of you might be happy with what you’re doing and you might just want enough to make that car payment or pay all your bills and that’s cool too. Not everyone hates their 9 to 5, but most do I think.

So what I’m really trying to get across here is the figures. You want to have a number! Someone told me this, or maybe I read it somewhere:

“I can’t tell you where to go, if you don’t know where you’re going.”

If you don’t know that number, or you don’t write it down somewhere where you see it every day. I know you won’t get there. Why am I so positive about this? I tried it, and I failed. Numbers matter! Okay Wilson I get it… I want to make $80 a day because that’s how much I make at my stinking J.O.B. WTF do I do now?

The Recipe

How do you bake a cake? How do you change a tire in a car? How do you drive a stick shift? Gear 1, to gear 4…then back to second? I don’t mean to exaggerate; I am just trying to make a silly point. For all these things you need tools or ingredients to get them done right? It’s the same thing make dollars online.

So let’s use my friend that wants to make $80 a day.

Goal: $80

How: Well, I’ve told him he can either do it through one of the following; PPC, CPA marketing, affiliate marketing, Clickbank/affiliate products, Google AdSense, create and sell his own products.

Why: Because I want to quit my job or I want to have more freedom or I want to travel more etc…

So if you’re goal is $80 a day, how many products are you going to NEED to sell? How much traffic are you going to need every day to sell X amount of products? Where will you get that traffic from?

Once you know exactly what you need to do, you start seeing everything much clearer. Having a recipe is important I believe. Not only having one but also following the recipe to the T. Because remember what happens if you don’t bake that cake at the right temperature or add salt instead of sugar, and bake it for 10 minutes instead of the 40 minutes. Yea, you come out with a big pile of NOTHING.

Attack it!

There’s not much I can really say here. You’re either going to do it or you’re not. Like Johnny said on one of his latest post Choose to be outstanding” or choose to continue to suck.

I Don’t Know Anything about Earning Money Online

If this is your case I’ll recommend you to some of the people that will help you get started and get you on the fast track to achieving the goal you want.

Pat Flynn, Jonathan Volk, John Chow, Jeremy Shoemaker, Erica Douglass, Rosalind Gardner, Rae Hoffman, Yaro Starak, Zac Johnson, Chris Guthrie, Steve Pavlina, Tyrone Shum and there’s more people too, but these guys I follow and listen to for the most part.

They are all big names on the internet and I wouldn’t doubt they would want to help you succeed.

WTF is Affiliate Marketing?

My friends don’t understand what affiliate marketing is, do your customers or prospect understand?

No matter how I explain it, my friends don’t get it. I don’t know if it’s my Colombian accent or what, but no matter how I explained affiliate marketing was a mystery. I know that a lot of people don’t understand the simple concept of selling stuff online; that’s why I kind of want to help those who’ve been contacting me for help and everyone that want to learn what affiliate marketing is.

So, what is affiliate marketing?

The easiest way to explain it, or should I say how I always tell people what it is goes like this:

When a company gets other people/affiliates to market their product and pays them commission to sell/promote their product or service.

You can really do this two different ways; create your own product and have individuals help you sell the product or, just sign up as an affiliate for a company and sell their product. I personally like doing the second option, even though you can make more money building your own products.

What products can I sell?

Oh man, you can ask instead, “What products am I not allowed to sell?” When you choose an affiliate network, you’ll find tons of different products and services you can offer; there’s something for everyone.

Is affiliate marketing a scam?

Not at all; the only problem is that some marketers out there are beginning to sell these get-rich-quick scheme products and people that buy them are failing miserably at them. So when these people buy those programs and see no success, they immediately think it’s a scam and talk bad about it. I don’t blame them, and that’s why I want to help change this by being straight up. It’s not easy when you’re just learning how to make money through affiliate marketing.

Where can I find a product that’s not a scam?

You can do it all for free through different forums or you can buy products like the ones that have helped me in my journey to becoming location independent.

Forums I like using:

Products I’ve used:

Besides these five resources I ask others for help and read blogs like Pat Flynn’s smartpassiveincome.com, masonworld.com, tyroneshum.com, mikeziarko.com. These guys are really givers, not takers, in the online marketing world. I think I owe a lot of my success to listening to these guys, and if you’re a newbie you should be listening and applying what these guys say. It will save you tons of money!

P.S: I will make money if you buy one of the products that I’ve listed. Just enough to feet my belly.

The Mindset of an Affiliate Marketer

Affiliate marketing is not easy; but I know I’m going to make Sh#@ happen no matter what people tell me.

I don’t believe that some of these online gurus out there are doing people any good telling newbies they can make a million bucks in 24 hours (okay, that’s not exactly what they’re saying, but it is close). Can you imagine what it feels like to be a brand new affiliate and NOT making $1 after 24 hours after you’ve been promised you’ll be driving an Audi R8 in no time?

First I have to tell anyone out there that believed that crap when you first bought that product, you’re too naïve. And now I’ll say, I was a dumbass. I admit it. My “buddy” (I won’t say his name) convinced me to buy a product like that. Now he’s not my buddy. Use your imagination why he’s not anymore…

Here’s the deal, I’m not going to B.S you and tell you the same gibberish I was told, I’m going to tell it how it is and be as honest as I can be.

Giving you the real “stuff”

These are just things you need to know before you go into the affiliate marketing field.

  • You need to find a person that is willing to help you out (he must be successful online).
  • You’re going to have to spend money on some products to shorten your learning curve faster (everything is out there for free, but you want everything collected into one package.)
  • Reading a lot and learning a lot of new semi-geeky stuff, but simple if you can follow directions.
  • Don’t buy stuff from people that sell “too good to be true” products.
  • If you contact someone for help and his or her first response is, “Buy my product,” watch out!
  • Ask a lot of question on the forums. No matter how dumb the question may be, people are willing to help.
  • Make sure you contact your affiliate managers or affiliate networks.  It’s in their interest to help you make money, because they make money if you do.
  • Be friendly with successful affiliates, a lot of them are friendly and they were in your shoes not too long ago.
  • Work your ass off once you understand how to make a buck online, don’t waste time reading and reading the same stuff, just scale what you learn.
  • Know that this sh$# isn’t easy; it involves a lot of sweat equity and some nights of sleep. I don’t care what others pitch you and tell you how they made a gazillion bucks in one week. I’ll believe it when I see it. Unless you’re John Reese and Frank Kern.

If You Need My Help

If you’re a newbie in this field I don’t mind helping you out. I’ve been an affiliate for about a year and half and I love helping out people that are in the shoes I once was. I’m always available if you contact me by email or message me on Twitter. Don’t hesitate if you have a question or doubts about getting started. I want to help you.

Why Only 1% of People Make Money Online

Why is it that so many people fail? What are the reasons and how can we avoid them?

Do you have any idea why it is that such a small number of people make money online? You would think that they have the best mentors or they have a lot of money to buy tools online, but it’s actually none of these.

The answer is one thing and one thing only. They do STUFF!!! Yes, it’s that simple, they take ACTION.

There’re already hundreds, if not thousands, of mentors and FREE products online that you can buy already that actually tell you how to make money online. But it all comes down to one thing.

“Being smart enough to listen, and dumb enough to do what you learn.”

Making money online is really simple if you think about it, but it does take some effort. If you don’t persevere after your first failures, you won’t make it. Ask yourself, how did you learn to ride a bike? Did you do it in the first try? No, probably not; you probably fell, hurt yourself, then got up and did the same thing, and about right around the 10th time you got it didn’t you?

How easy was it after that? How easy is it now? You don’t fall anymore do you?

Well, it’s the same way with making money online. In July, it took me a few days to set up a website that I was building, after about a month it started making a few sales, which is adding up and growing each month. The first niche site I made took me about two months and it never made any money. As you can see, with time you get better and it becomes almost second nature to do this online thing.

Knowing that there are a lot of people out there in the 99% bracket that are trying to make their first buck online, but haven’t had any success yet, I’ve decided to share the formula that has worked for me, and hopefully will for you too.

This should help you break your first dollar online.

1. Find a Niche that You Have Passion For – You’ve probably never heard this before, I know. (Sarcasm) But you need to know that it WORKS!!! You don’t need to go and find something that you have no interest in like Knitting or Plants. It can be something fun and exciting that you already love talking about and you can answer questions about without having to do some research.

Need help with this? Okay no problem… Tell me, what hobbies do you have? Do you read any type of magazines or read any sort of books? Do you like video games or online games? Take some time, like an hour or so to go through your brain and find a market that interests you. When you make your first dollar is great, but better when you know that you’re getting paid to do what you love.

2. Different Ways to Make Your First Dollar – I think there are over 50 ways to make money online and I could be cutting myself short, because every day someone figures something out. I don’t use more than a couple myself. So, you know what you’re passionate about, how do you make money?

The different ways:

-Contextual ads on an informational web page are the first way to make money online.

-Writing an eBook that solves a problem and selling it.

-Build a blog that contains great quality content.

Trust me, there’re a lot more ways, but these are the easiest and most common ways people are crushing it online each day. Pretty much once you know what it is that you want to do, the rest is simple.

3. Plan of Attack – Somebody once told me “I can’t tell you where to go, if you don’t tell me where you’re going.” And it is so true. If you’re going to build a blog, for example, you’re going to need a few articles written before you go live.  You’re going to want to know your people (market) and find out what others are not doing to satisfy that market. The reason which you want to do some research is to make sure that you will make your first dollar online. If you go into a niche of non-buyers you’ll waste your time.

You’re going to want to have a good domain name and have a product to offer and some contextual ads if you want. It’s important to get people’s emails to start growing your list so you can keep selling them what they are looking for. Set a plan of attack and then

4. Do it! Take ACTION – There’re the doers and non-doers; which are you going to be? You already know which are in the 1% bracket and which are in the 99%. It’s up to you to decide. Listen, you’ll mess up the first time, things will wrong, you’ll miss some steps but that’s okay, the next time you do it, it will be better.  That’s how you learn!
