11 Lessons Life has Taugh Me

I hate working for others. Ever since I can remember I’ve been entrepreneurial and being Colombian has ingrained that in me. I must say they are lazy and they like finding other ways to make money. Even though I don’t agree with their ways of making money. When I was 10 I started my own ice cream business, then a mini-theater with a friend and even a hot dog stand and a loaning business, where we ended up going broke because the people we lend it to, had less money than us. How innocent we were then. So you see I’ve always wanted to be my own boss, and business is in my blood.

You have to do what you love. Unfortunately this is something that I learned on my own. My parent always told me that I gotta do something that makes me a lot of money, the thing that they didn’t understand is that before you do that, you need to find your passions and do that, the money will come.

If you want it, you need to ask for it. Nothing in life just comes at you from the skies, well, I guess in a way it does. I am very spiritual and I believe in the law of attraction very strongly. I do believe that you can think yourself into success. I know this for a fact. I been lucky to have manifested a lot of what I wanted. If I had never thought about such things I would probably never be where I am.

You don’t have to be a millionaire to live like one. I use to think that you needed to collect a bunch of money, wait until you’re 40-60 years old and then you get to spend it. In other words retirement. Not no more. I understand that to have everything I ever want to have in my life is 5-7k a month and I will live like a millionaire. Why waste my youth years, besides I don’t know if tomorrow will come. I am not pessimistic just a slight realistic.

Money doesn’t buy happiness, but brokenness doesn’t either. It isn’t everything but it sure does solve a whole lot of problems.

If you want to be successful, do what successful people do. Some call it a copycat other take it as a compliment. I think its okay to want to be like someone. It’s worst not to wanted to be anything. In someway you’ll be different don’t worry.

People hate seeing you succeed. It’s sad to say this one. But I’ve learned that people do enjoy to see others suffer or fail. It’s not their faults, its just a neurological problem. So I’ve learned to just dust them off my shoulders.

You have to be remarkable, a purple cow, build a tribe. Sound familiar? yes I must thank “Master Seth Godin” I like all his stuff and I’ve learned more about marketing from him in six months than in two years selling vacuums. Don’t get me wrong the vacuum gig taught me something too.

Books are like a drug to the brain. I don’t know why, but they are. I love reading. When I read I always feel smarter, fresher, and on top of life. Read all you can. Not just about what you like, but everything. Learn! learn! learn!

Take NO! like a YES. When I was selling vacuums I learned that the more NO’s I got the more YES’s I got. Obviously that’s just a sales ratio, but in life people will tell you NO also, just remember if that one hot guy/girl says NO there’s another hot guy/girl that will say YES.

Wake up every morning an meet somebody new. I think the way we can really become successful is by working hard. Very hard. But also if you know a lot of people and you have a nice rolodex, it can help you achieve your success much faster.

  1. Wilson, it’s very nice to see your life reflection and learned lessons. “Money doesn’t buy happiness, but brokenness doesn’t either” is a nice one. I’m still learning how to live happily without tons of money. I’m thankful that I am not worried too much about it yet.

“Wake up every morning an meet somebody new” We just met this morning. Thanks for reaching to me personally. It really enlightens me. :)

Sure that you are on the way achieving the success.

I don’t agree that “People hate seeing you succeed” In general and be honest, we do “jealous” but at the same time, it’s our motivation to see someone succeed.

  2. Wilson, just dropped in to say I admire your dedication to success. I’m in sales and totally agree that every no gets you closer to a yes. I personally thank everyone who says no to me. I also treat every no as a not yet. Having a positive attitude is redundant – to achieve ultimate success in life and business we must adopt a “yes! attitude” (Jeffrey Gitomer).
