Nomadic Lifestyle Safety: What’s the Safest Country in South America?

You obviously want to start living the life of a digital nomad.
But you’re afraid not knowing the language, or territory, might work against you, right? Don’t worry, be happy I say to you; because I found it. I found the perfect spot just for you.

For me it’s so hard to talk about this country; not that I dislike it or anything, but I am just a crazy soccer fan and we are huge rivals. Anyway no more suspense.

Argentina. Yes, I said it. Oh no, why did I say that. See, my family is from Colombia, and as you may already know it’s the most unsafe country and I won’t deny it. It’s proven and many people who visited think so to. Pretty sad, but what can I say.

So going back to Argentina; I wanted to find out what makes this country so safe, and why that is. The biggest reason is that the poverty level is at about 30% compared to other countries, like El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Venezuela and Colombia,Brazil and a couple others, where it is much higher. Meaning there are less people trying to rob you.

In terms of personal safety from crime?

Buenos Aires is the most “modern” of all South American cities. (It has been said that it is the Paris of South America). Crime exists everywhere, but you will have less chance of getting mugged if you don’t wear expensive jewelry or look like money.

-Most people say use your common sense; like don’t stray too far off the beaten path, avoid certain areas of the big cities (especially at night), avoid too brazen displays of wealth…

What are travelers saying about Argentina’s safety?

I feel safer in Buenos Aires than in other big cities of the world, such as London or Paris.

South America can be dangerous, yes, but common sense will do you good. I live here and haven’t had a problem.

Argentina and Brazil are such a big countries that you have to consider where you are…generally big cities as Rio, San Pablo, Porto Alegre in Brazil or Buenos Aires and Cordoba in Argentina are dangerous, but if you go to what they call the “interior” of the country, you will have no problems…

I have travelled to and lived in many latin american countries, I am American. Argentina is the second safest for me…

If you want to know more about Argentina I found Sarah Merion had something special to say while being there, you might appreciate.

So there you have it. You wanted to know where you should go to experience your lifestyle design traveling in a safe way and I gave it to you. Do you know of any other places to visit in South America that are safe too? Then don’t be stingy share them with us. I will be looking for other countries in the future too like Chile. Carlos Miceli from Argentina told me it was safer; if I can find others, or you can, give me some tips I’ll make sure to include them in my post.
